Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Deburrer/Operator to join our team at our Poole, Dorset location. This role is integral to ensuring the precision and quality of our highly engineered components. Hours of Work: Rotating shifts on a double-day schedule:

  • Early Shift: Mon-Thurs 6:00am-2:15pm, Fri 6:00am-12:00pm
  • Late Shift: Mon-Thurs 2:15pm-10:15pm, Fri 12:00pm-7:30pm
  • 37 hours per week, with additional hours as required to maintain the efficient running of the department.

Responsibilities

As a Deburrer/Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Precision deburring of metal components using various tools and techniques.
  • Inspecting and deburring work under magnification to ensure quality standards.
  • Reading engineering drawings to identify critical features.
  • Selecting and using appropriate inspection equipment for manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing components to correct drawing specifications.
  • Changing inserts and adjusting machine offsets as needed.
  • Selecting and identifying bushes and fixtures to protect critical features.
  • Hand engraving traceable numbers on components.
  • Shot blasting components for cleaning and preparation for future treatments.
  • Cleaning and protecting components.
  • Completing necessary quality documentation.
  • Adhering to Lean principles and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
  • Assisting in the training of other employees.
  • Collaborating with Production Engineers on Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.
  • Completing component tool sheets and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when required.
  • Understanding and utilizing the Kanban process.
  • Performing other duties as required by the nature and level of the role.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven experience in deburring intricate features in a variety of components.
  • Ability to select the correct tooling and methods for specific jobs.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
  • Demonstrable positive attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet changing business demands.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship-trained in a relevant field.
  • Experience operating machine tools.

Day-to-Day

Your day-to-day activities will involve working on intricate components, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards. You will use a variety of tools and techniques to deburr, inspect, and prepare components for further processing. Collaboration with team members and Production Engineers will be a key part of your role, as will maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
