Engineering Despatch Manager

Salary: £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Weekly Hours: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 4:30pm & Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm (39 basic)


Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Despatch Manager to lead our despatch operations within a dynamic and fast-paced precision engineering environment. This is a pivotal role where you will oversee the efficient and accurate delivery of customer orders, ensuring compliance with stringent aerospace standards.

As a hands-on leader, you will manage a dedicated team, coordinate multiple priorities, and act as a key liaison between production, operations, and external suppliers. Responsibilities

As the Despatch Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Despatch Department.
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure all customer delivery deadlines are met.
  • Supervising, supporting, and developing the despatch team to maximise performance.
  • Setting clear expectations and maintaining accountability within the team.
  • Identifying training needs and supporting ongoing skill development.
  • Overseeing the accurate preparation and despatch of all customer orders.
  • Ensuring all orders are correctly invoiced and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Coordinating and monitoring subcontract treatment processes.
  • Maintaining accurate despatch logs, treatment records, and monthly reporting.
  • Overseeing stock allocation and organisation within the department.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and FOD (Foreign Object Debris) prevention.
  • Proactively communicating with internal departments to avoid delays.
  • Responding effectively to changing production and customer priorities.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Attributes:

  • Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Confidence in working under pressure while maintaining high performance.
  • Strong communication skills across teams and levels.
  • A proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Desirable Experience (Not Essential):

  • Background in engineering, manufacturing, or logistics/despatch.
  • Experience coordinating subcontract processes or production flow.
