We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Manual Lathe Setter Operator to join our team on-site in Poole. This role is critical to ensuring the production of high-quality components that meet stringent industry standards.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Responsibilities

As a Manual Lathe Setter Operator, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Selecting appropriate tooling and holding devices for manufacturing.
  • Proving out both proven and unproven programs.
  • Manufacturing components to precise drawing specifications.
  • Conducting your own first-off inspections.
  • Completing feedback tickets for set and run times.
  • Maintaining production targets and adhering to quality standards.
  • Completing necessary quality documentation.
  • Following company policies, procedures, and Lean principles.
  • Ensuring tooling and gauging are maintained to a high standard.
  • Taking reasonable care of your own Safety, Health, Environmental, and Fire (SHEF) safety, as well as that of others.
  • Collaborating with Production Engineers to optimize productivity.
  • Performing other duties as required, in line with the nature and level of the role.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven experience in setting and running manual lathes.
  • Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship-trained in a relevant discipline.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve setting up and operating manual lathes to produce components that meet precise specifications. You will be responsible for inspecting your own work, maintaining production targets, and ensuring all quality documentation is completed accurately. You will also collaborate with Production Engineers to optimize processes and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
