Production Team Leader

We are recruiting for a Production Team Leader for a global manufacturing company in Lymington, Hampshire.

The company is a family owned/run business that produces innovative Tapes and Sealants that are supplied to some of the world's biggest names in the construction industry.

For 50 years they have been designing, engineering and producing tapes that have found their way around the world from the manufacturing and sales HQ in Lymington. Continuous development in Research and Design and manufacturing technologies keeps us at the forefront of tapes technology. 

Salary: £14.00per hour with further progression opportunities.

Hours / Rotating Shift pattern:

*Early Finish on Friday*

Week 1 
Mon - Thurs 06:00-14:00 Fri 06:00-11:00 


Week 2 
Mon - Thurs 14:00 - 22:00 Fri 11:00-16:00

The Role: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a shift Team Leader to be introduced into the company.

  • The Team Leader will report into the Shift Production Manager.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of all people operating the equipment or visiting the working environment through the constant monitoring of shift operation, review of practises and risk assessments.
  • Ensure that all mix operatives have the correct level of training and implement health and safety requirements.
  • Work closely with the Team to ensure that the internal customer (extrusion) is serviced to the required level (volume, quality, and timeliness).

Main purpose of the job: 

-    Ensuring the safety of the Production Team and any visiting people is the primary focus.
-    Plan the mix production so that customer requirements are met safely and right first time within the standard operating time, with minimum waste and machine downtime. 
-    Ensure that all mix operatives are working safely through robust training and working practises. 
-    Oversee an effective and well communicated shift handover
-    Ensure the shift operatives are compliant with the company procedures and policies. 
-    Assist the Mix Production Manager when rolling out new policies and procedures in the Mix area.  
-    Perform new and temporary staff inductions.
-    Standing in for the Mix Production Manager should they be absent.  
-    Ensure compliance to Workplace organisation (general housekeeping). 

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

-    3+ years of experience of direct first line management of an operational team in a fast-paced, 24/5 environment".
-    Recognised Health & Safety qualification. 
-    First Aid trained 
-    Fire Marshal trained 
-    Competent in performing Risk Assessments

-    Good written and verbal skills. 
-    Ability to make sound and reasonable Operational decisions  
-    Experience of SAP. 

Personal Specification:

-    Numerate and literate 
-    Ability to interpret detailed work orders and quality information 
-    Ability to communicate effectively 
-    Ability to be trained in operation of extruders and ancillary equipment 
-    Operate as part of a manufacturing team
